Aboriginal Post Secondary Scholarships: Deadline June 1

Hello Metis Youth! Check the following Aboriginal post secondary scholarships due by June 1st!

The Post Secondary Education Awards Program 
The purpose of this program is to meet the increasing needs of First Nations, Inuit and Metis students for financial support and to assist them in the pursuit of excellence in every discipline.
Eligible fields of study: business, commerce, science, law, engineering, information technology, education, social work, social sciences and technical studies
Eligible programs of study: post secondary programs of at least two years at recognized Canadian technical institutes, CEGEPs, colleges and universities. Certificate or diploma programs, undergradutate and graduate programs are eligible for consideration.

Canadian National Scholarships for Native Students
CN makes awards available to Inuit or non status Indian or Metis students entering or enrolled full time in a post secondary program in Canada that leads to a career in the transportation industry. This includes fields such as engineering, business, computer science, communications and technical studies.

Women’s Worlds 2011 - Young Aboriginal Women’s Creative Essay Contest!


Calling all Young Aboriginal Women across Canada ages 16 to 29! Do you want to be part of one of the biggest gatherings of women in the world happening in Ottawa July 3rd to 7th?!

The Aboriginal Women’s Leadership Circle for Women’s Worlds 2011 invites young Aboriginal Women across Canada to submit their written, artistic, or otherwise creative submissions to attend Women’s Worlds 2011. Are you a Métis youth ages 14-25? If so, check this out!


WANTED:  MÉTIS YOUTH AGED 18-25:

The Métis Nation of Ontario’s Aboriginal Responsible Gambling Program is seeking participants between 18-25 to be part of the Métis Nation of Ontario’s “Youth Responsible Gambling Video/DVD”.  This invitation seeks young adults that have experienced the impacts of having personal experience with, living with a family member, or knowing of a close friend that has suffered impacts of problem gambling.  Sharing with others will provide invaluable insights and assist everyone on the journey to healthy living.  Travel expenses and a modest honorarium for selected participants will be provided.

 WANTED:  MÉTIS YOUTH AGED 14-22:

The MNO is also offering a Youth Leadership initiative (for ages 14-22) that will be available via videoconferencing and live web-streaming.  Participants can earn volunteer hours towards the high school volunteer hour criteria, will receive free training on Responsible Gambling, can offer information to their own communities, and will receive a certificate and letter of participation from the MNO upon completion of participating and providing one community presentation.
